When a person makes a promise, it’s called Commitment. David J Otto is the final stop in the promises that are not just made by HIM but also by which Hands In Motion exists.
I, David J Otto, doing business as Hands In Motion, promise to:
- Provide a high level of competency, utilizing education and experience, to plan and assist You in attaining Your personal goals for therapeutic session(s) by staying current with information and techniques by reading, receiving bodywork regularly, and attending at least one continuing education workshop per year;
- Keep my promises and be consistent in regard to modalities practiced, appointment times, and continuing my own professional behavior and attitudes regarding continuing education and business practices;
- Comply with Your requests and expectations regarding confidentiality of Your personal and per-session information, Your boundaries, our communication standards, My appropriate touch, hygiene, and dress;
- Have respect for Your well-being, including Your privacy (physical, mental, and emotional), advising with complete and applicable information (or referring when necessary);
- Abide by local, state, and federal laws that apply to the business and therapeutic touch service industries, including sanitation, safety, and universal precautions;
- Inform and educate You about Your options regarding My business and modalities I have learned about that may assist You in attaining Your goals in promoting Your own well-being, and of any changes regarding the same;
- Recognize My role in the therapeutic relationship and not do bodywork or conduct business under the influence of alcohol, drugs, or any illegal substance;
- Be available by appointment only and will schedule an appointment based on a mutually agreed-upon time and place;
- During a bodywork session, only expose the part of the client’s body on which I am currently working – the breasts and genitals are never exposed or massaged;
- Only perform therapeutic bodywork and conduct business in an environment that is not sexually charged with conversation or actions that suggest or lead into a client/therapist relationship that is dually- or multi-faceted;
- Treat all clients within My scope of practice with respect and without prejudgment of gender, race, national origin, religion, sexual orientation, age, body type, political affiliation, state of health, personal habit, or physical or mental challenge;
- Reserve the right to refuse service to or accept payment for desired services from clients that display verbally or physically a negative attitude toward Hands In Motion, notwithstanding verbal abuse or physical molestation (including sexual advances) or any defamatory statements or vandalism;
- Refuse any gifts or benefits offered which are intended to influence a referral, decision, or treatment that are purely for personal gain and not in Your best interest or the best interest of the client;
- Accept the responsibility to do no intentional harm to Your physical, mental, and emotional well-being, including soliciting verbal and observing non-verbal feedback during a session in regard to contraindications for the bodywork;
- Say what I do and Do what I say. I will have integrity about what I do and the way I do business;
- Have an open-door policy regarding questions, complaints, suggestions, compliments, and comments and will view them as constructive, asking You to provide these things for me to respond to from time to time;
- Operate and conduct My Business and Career from a place of Honesty, Awareness, and Compassion for myself and You.
